Sachiko Adachi, born in Tokyo and a graduate of Waseda University, transcended conventional art concepts when she introduced her Cosmic Art to the world in the 1980s.
Ms. Adachi’s “12 Hitoe”; a 12-layered Kimono inspired by the medieval Japanese court ladies’ era, was featured at the 1988 Japan Expo in Los Angeles. This marked the United States debut of Ms. Adachi’s Cosmic Art.
In 1993, Ms. Adachi launched her own gallery Space Sachi, in Tokyo. Ironically and sadly, Ms. Adachi passed away, at age 47, just one day before the opening. Cosmic Art remains a strong influence in major art venues world today..
We invite you to join us at The Art Board, October 23-35, to experience the world of Cosmic Art, featuring the original works of Sachiko Adachi in a first-ever Hawaii showing.
